Unless you have made other arrangements, your presentation will take place at 4pm in PSC 3046

The primary purpose of your talk is to communicate the goals and excitement of your field of research or expertise to an audience of 4th year physics undergraduates. In addition, the audience will be made up of current physics faculty, retired physics faculty, physics academic staff, physics majors at the 2nd and 3rd year level, faculty from other departments who have an interest in you and/or your research, local high school physics teachers, and other interested people. (The colloquia are open to everyone so feel free to invite guests.) Attendance is typically between 20 and 35 people.

A good guide for content and style would be if you were interviewing for a job and you were asked to give a presentation to highlight your research and interests but also demonstrate that you have the ability to be a good undergraduate teacher.

If you would like to talk to members of the department individually about your research, arrangements can be made. If you would like to meet specifically with the undergraduate students that can also be arranged.

Our usual presentation mode is to use Microsoft Power Point. Either bring a laptop or the presentation on CR-ROM, USB device, or accessible over the web/email. Plan on a 45-50 minute talk with 10 minutes for questions. Lately we have been asking questions during the talk and then having more questions at the end. We have a laser pointer.
