The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) offers Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) for research projects during summer. Traditionally, most of these awards go to 2nd to 4th year students, but 1st year students with a very high average grade have also a good chance to obtain a USRA.
The deadline for USRA applications will be around 2 February 2012. Applicants must find a supervisor and fill out NSERC form 202. Detailed information on how to apply can be found on NSERC' USRA web page. Make sure to follow the guidelines very (!) carefully. For physics projects, completed applications should be submitted to Michael Steinitz.
